You are using NLP everyday!

There is a common misconception that NLP is related only to sales or therapy . It is true that the origins of NLP lie with therapy and eventually the linguistic patterns came to be extremely useful in the realm of sales and personal influence. In fact that is what brought NLP to the limelight and created a mark in the world. Most therapists in the world and Motivational Speakers, know and use a form of NLP and that is what makes them successful. Because NLP is simply the study of genius.

So those who do not know of the origins of NLP and have not encountered it, feel that the common person has no use for NLP.

But I assure you, as an NLP practitioner myself, and having worked with the Best NLP Trainer in India-Ridhima, nothing could be further than the truth.

To begin with I can tell you that NLP is not something to do with only psychology or mental health

It is a part of everyday life for all of us. When John Grinder and Richard Bandler codified Neuro Linguistic Programming they were working with therapists like Milton Erickson and Virginia Satir. What they were doing was modeling geniuses.

However, what Erickson and Satir were doing was also a form of modeling. They had studied human behaviour overtly or unknowingly and developed a code of their own for how things work, how the human mind works.

In short, they had chanced upon the formula for making human relationships work (as in Family Therapy by Virginia Satir) or how the unconscious mind assimilates suggestion (as in Miltonian Language)

So you can see that the common people, and their daily lives are the source of NLP and we are using it daily.

Let me give you some Examples:

  1. Your intuition is another name for your unconscious, a term defined by John Grinder, Carmen Bostic, Michael Carroll in their codification of New Code NLP. Your unconscious is a part of your mental apparatus which keeps on gathering information from all sources in the environment and keeps it in a special storage space. Depending on what instructions you give yourself in your self-talk, it retrieves that information from that special storage and uses it for you.
  2. Special flowers like Marigold put you in the mood for a celebration like a wedding. This is an example of an olfactory anchor. Olfactory is related to the sense of smell. Anchors are things and actions that help us access a specific state of mind at any time that they are touched, felt, said or heard. Our world is full of different kinds of anchors. It is estimated that olfactory anchors are some of the strongest anchors.
  3. What is that special dish that transports you to your childhood? Have you visited the street where you lived as a child and gone back to the sweet shop from where you had some treat to eat as a child? Even as an adult, if you go to that shop and have that same treat, you will be transported to your childhood, isn’t it? This is an example of a gustatory anchor. Gustatory means related to the sense of taste. The treat that you ate and immediately reminded you of the times in your childhood when you ate that same treat and did your childhood things, is serving as an anchor, a gateway to the unique time of your childhood
  4. Have you said things like, “all I want is X”. Can I ask you if that is true? Was it ALL you wanted? Now, this is an example of a Meta Model Pattern called Universal Quantifier. NLP has 13 Meta Patterns which help us understand the issue of our client and where they are stuck. It is extremely instrumental in helping them come out of that stuck situation. So, when you are saying words like, ‘all’, ‘everyone’, ‘no one’ when in reality you do not mean all or no one, you are creating specific deletions which serve the intention of creating your drama.
  5. All of us have gone through some calming down techniques or meditative audio at some point or the other. Even when our friends or close ones feel anxious or sad, we tell them things like “focus on breathing”, or “go to your happy place” This imagery and actions is translated in NLP as change of representative systems and playing with sub modalities.

Conclusion from examples:

Even an untrained person can use these words and create change in the mind state of their friend or loved one.

Now you understand how NLP is a part of our everyday life. These are just a few examples. There are many many more. Once you train with a Master Coach and NLP Trainer of International Caliber as Ridhima Dua, you will find these examples everywhere yourself.

And with the possibility of online courses and online certifications, learning and practicing NLP has become more and more easier.
